Virginity Deflowered

The scent of fragrant dewy roses whiffing through my olfactory senses felt like a beautiful dream and awaiting something special to happen at the very next moment. And in my case it was no different. To think again, it was very different.

“Sashaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, WAKE UP,” yelled out my mom that reverberated through the four walls of my bedroom upstairs.  In a flash, a bleary-eyed I, was up, but brutally thawed in the gut from what I thought was a nice dream. Or was it coincidental that by my pillow lay a bunch of lovely roses of different colours that were in a mood to romanticize its emotions to me. I would never know. Or may be I would. I by then just noticed a sealed note attached to the bouquet of roses. I opened it around its edges and before I could read its contents, petals of fresh roses of varied hues swept across my face, by-passing my nostrils to add effects to the endearing aura. “That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet,” the note began …Moments after I read the lovey-dovey note, my cell-phone sounded my favourite song, Ti Amo Ti Amo ... It was him … the one that made me understand what love is. And to whom, I had a dedicated ring tone. In a flash, I shrugged away my quilt, and dragged my butt away from my cosy bed bare-footed to reach out to my cell-phone, on my study-table nearby.

“Hunnieeeee   … Wish you a very Happy Anniversary ….”
I was taken momentarily, by surprise by the greeting, a refrain from the usual, Dahlin, wake up ….. See you in an hour.”
Yes, he was my alarm clock too. And we studied at the same college.
Recovering from the surprise as immediate as hearing it, I corrected him in a soft, mellifluous tone, “Us, Sweetheart.”
And he went on. “I have made plans to make our day special. I hope you liked my surprise and have read the note attached with it.”
I replied, “Yes, dear I thought it was a dream ….. The flowers, so sweet of you … loved them, but nothing as much as my love for you will overpower my senses.”
It was silence at the end for a few seconds, and it felt like an eternity to me. May be, he was very touched by my thought and words were failing him. I was eager to hear what he had to reply.
“Dahlin, you well know, I am the bee that nourishes on your pollen and nectar, and without whom I cannot survive,” was his answer in a sexual overtone.
Not that I did not expect such a reply, but it felt real good all the same that he “Loved me like no other.”
And then DARNNNN, my mom interrupts with another yell, Sashaaaaaa, still in bed? Time you wake up and get ready for college.
Julio, on the other end of the call, mumbled his apologies and a quick, see you soon. And there was a click.

I thought to myself, ‘’Oh my, how could I forget … this day, 20th July, a year ago, we got to know each other. I just wanted to get the most of this special day, and so bunking classes was our plan.” I called out to mom, “Ma, gimme half an hour.”

I rushed to the washroom, tidied myself up and returned to my room, and looked up my ward-robe. THE BIG ISSUE. What should I wear? A predicament and indecisiveness for every girl, on a special day as this, and, I, was no different. I rummaged through the clothes and pulled out a cerulean-blue tube top and my frayed at the borders short jeans to match. Just perfect, I thought. And threw it on to my bed and looked up myself in the mirror – This was the day, Today would be that moment. “Am I not one of the most beautiful artifacts created by “The Master Craftsman?,” I asked the mirror, who reflected my beauty in mute approval.

I quickly slipped out from my night gown to have another look at myself. In my skin-coloured inner-wear, I felt so desirable. I wanted to feel loved, experience love. Swallowing an imaginary pastille at the thought, I slowly unclasped my bra and removed my panties. Enamor embraced the floor. And I entered into ‘mind's eye mode’ again and moaned softly as I explored myself to the touch of ‘the noun that verbs my world.’ It felt good, but …

Slinking into the shower in the buff, I experienced a sensation flow through me as I cleansed myself from the just committed deed. Toweling myself bone dry, I emerged out from my bath and clothed myself. Chucking a few things into my hand-bag, I glided onto my feet my favourite flip-flops and spiffed under my arms the perfume befitting the occasion, Ferrari- Black. I preferred to resist the temptation of pouting myself to a fresh coat of lip-stick and other cosmetics which would have had me all dolled up. Today was just not the day. It would be no ordinary date.

There was I, back in front of the mirror staring at myself. How did I look? I was svelte, not too tall, had light-brown engaging eyes, dimpled cheeks and auburn highlights on my shoulder-length silky-smooth tresses. Did I fit into my outfit well? Would his jaw-drop or just shrug? I had just more than a surprise in store for him. Approving myself of the appearance, I slung across my hand-bag over my right shoulder and sprinted downstairs.

“Goooood morning, ma,” I greeted, a startled mom. She smiled in acknowledgment, but said nothing. She had the breakfast laid for her daughter on the dining table. I helped myself to a couple of buttered bread slices, and was having my cuppa, when she broke the silence. “Julio was here earlier this morning and he had left something for you,” she winked at me. I blushed, and got of from my chair as I finished with breakfast and gave mom a peck on her cheek. I was about to take her leave as I heard an inimitable honking car outside in the driveway, when mom gently held me by my arm and made me sit.

“Sasha, can you tell me what is going on here”, questioned the mother concerned about her growing daughter. “The roses coming early morning, dressing up as you have … is there something you would like to tell me?”

I never ever hid anything from mom until today, and I was not up to lying to her today either. “Mom, it is just that Julio and I, are celebrating our first anniversary of knowing each other.” I tried to hide the pink tinge that began to flush my cheeks, by turning away and covering the exposed cheek with the other arm. Mom was more than just a loving mother; she was also a caring elder sister and a stern, fretful dad of a daughter who had come of age, and only a month shy of turning eighteen. Yes, it was just mom and me and our pet dog, Goofy in the household. I would not like to speak about this any further.

The honking outside grew louder and impatient. I plead with mom, I gotta go. She prodded. “Does that mean you are skipping lecs today? What about you’re approaching exams?” Maaaa, don’t worry. I am coping with my studies well, I answered. She was worried that my grades would slip. Till now, I was getting among the better grades in class and she was a proud mother. And not that I was to let her down, but I would not let my blossoming love life get crushed either. She gave it her thought and let me go, not before giving me a customary kiss and hug and wishing me good luck and come back before dark instruction, though still with a hint of anxiety creasing her forehead.

I darted outside to a waiting Julio behind the wheel of his good-as-new Maruti Estilo. To him, his car was his girlfriend, and I was his spare tyre. That was what he told me once, and I did not care to mind as I knew well he loved his PJ’s too. I could see his jaw-drop as he checked me out through the rolled down passenger seat up front. I contrived pretence and gave him a bashful look. He then got out from the car, came around and walked up to me a few metres away. I extended my hands reaching out to embrace him. But, like a perfect gentleman, he did not seize the moment to give me a squeeze. Instead, he held both my hands and planted a soft, gentle kiss on the knuckles of either hand and said, “I am overwhelmed by your beauty as never before.” I demurely gave him a smile in return and … I sneezed. Yes, I did that. The Axe Effect fragrance he wore was different that day, something I was not immune to. Now how bad could that be to ruin such romantic moments. Droplets of my sneeze were resting on his hands. I murmured an apology, embarrassed and offered him a tissue and he wiped off the deposits without showing any hint of disgust. Yes, this was the actuality of our love. Nothing whatsoever could fuck our pleasure.

He then took me by the arm and guided me to his car to the passenger seat up front, opened the door, when I feigned falling. In an instantaneous motion he held me by my waist and thrust me towards him. His taut abs rippled through his tee while his biceps bulged as he held me in a protective grasp. I leaned my head against his shoulder. This was the strapping man who will never let harm come in the way of his lady and will always be by her side.

“Are you alright,” he asked anxiously. I simply fluttered my eyelids, as he helped me into the car, got around to the driver’s seat and we drove off. The plan as it was we would head over his place to watch a movie, and have lunch.

Within twenty minutes we reached his apartment where he lived alone. Julio was this independent chap who loved to do his own thing. Do his own chores and cook too.
This is what I liked about him best. A man who would not be reliant on his woman for his needs once he gets home and shares in the household duties.

Once at his place, while he changed, I lounged myself on to his couch in his sitting area. Within a few minutes, he was standing there, in nothing but his boxer shorts. Oh swell, I said to myself. Time to twirl him around my thumb, I thought. “Hun, come right here, right now,” I beseeched while I tapped my sides. Latching on to the drift, he came within seconds and sat besides me on the couch. I gently placed his head on my lap and pretended to preen his ruffled hair with one hand. With the other, I let my fingers mischievously twiddle slowly but surely across his chest. Passion was growing on me, but … there was a growl and getting louder. Yes, it was his stomach. “Sweetheart, he looked up to me and said with a twinkle in his eye, can we continue this after the intermission?” I had no option but nod my consent. It was ten minutes to noon, but hunger took precedence over covetousness.

Swiftly back on to his feet, he went to the kitchen to prepare lunch and I tagged along to help. Helping him in the kitchen was quite something I must say. Neatly organized were the larger utensils in shelves and the rack to hold smaller utensils like the knives, forks, spoons and ladles. On another shelf, were labelled containers of different food spices among other food items. No sooner were we at the kitchen, he announced we were to prepare chicken curry. As he turned on the burner on medium heat and put the frying pan in place, he began instructions for the ingredients with the other utensils required at hand. In a methodical manner, the dish was prepared in a record ten minutes to an aromatic waft tempting our rolling tongues to sample and taste pronto!  It was not long after our food was ready, that we served ourselves and paired our lunch with a couple of lagers each. While we sated our palates, and calmed Julio’s tummy, we took swigs of beer in between.

Tummies filled and with our senses getting intoxicated, we staggered our way back to the seating area. Muttering our sweet nothings to each other, Julio switched on the telly and inserted into the DVD player, a DVD, while I made myself comfortable on the couch again. The movie was Delhi Belly, the latest movie from Bollywood to set multiplexes across the country with choc-a-bloc screenings. Shit does happen they say, and it was no better, with the two of us.

With Julio plonking his rear next to mine and entwining an arm around my shoulder, we began to watch the movie with evinced interest. Or at least, we tried to …until, something happened.  This was to be it. I gave an ecstatic thought.

I sensed his hand feeling its way on my back while he began to canoodle me from the front. I knew what was coming and I was waiting for this to happen. The day had finally come to let go my ingénue innocence. With our passion escalating and the skin getting intense for carnal indulgence, we rolled onto the carpeted floor with my beau on top. Lifting himself up to a seating position he pushed me towards him. The thrust on my heaving breasts had an equally proportional effect to the elasticity of my bra which screamed for air. This soon was to be realized. The smooth operator that he was, was around my back again and finding its way up my tube top. His hand was warm and inviting as it reached the fabric of my chastity belt and tried to locate the clasp. Unflinching, we continued our kissing and caressing. Tried as he did, he could not find what he was striving for and I stifled a horny laugh.

Deciding to tease him further, I moved away, easing my top off and my shorts too with egalitarian intentions. Arching my body towards his bare chest, I whispered into his ear with a wink in my eye, a popular Hindi saying, “Parde mein rehne do, parda na uthao.” Embarrassed at his initial failed quest, it did not deter him but spurred him on in lieu with renewed zeal. Thieving a look at my concealed unmentionables, his blood-shot eyes were a total give-away. Blood must have raced up to his brains and sped down to his toes. It stirred his imagination with a riot of sexy thoughts that plead for a voyage of exploration to the high seas of our satisfaction.

“For the love of God, what I look upon is His master-piece, in two-piece,” he lasciviously declared. Hyperventilating, he threaded through my silken tresses as he turned me around and began necking. My first love bite, another and a few more … I squealed in pain and delight. He pushed me back on to the couch and began to survey his pulchritudinous love interest. Tracing the contours of my breasts, he managed to find the clasp of my bra between the cups. Reaching around the fabric with his dexterous index finger, he squeezed at the single clasp and then SNAP!! The chastity belt came apart to allow her to reveal firm, fulsome breasts with cherry-coloured cute buttons.

Licentiously, he nibbled and fondled at my little hillocks and careened down the valley to strong undercurrents running through his fingers. In his lustful avarice to graze greener pastures, he slipped his hand into my panties while I tugged at his boxers which loosened and gave away. I whimpered at his sightly manhood as he impelled himself forward and lowered my panties. I let out pleasured gasps as I let his tool to work its way into my mechanics. It accommodated itself well as we let out our whoopees of carnal cohesiveness. I was now no longer a virgin and every petal of my being was touched and explored. I had now blossomed to be the most beautiful flower in our “Garden of Eden” that was for the one and only bee in my life – then, now and forever. Julio was his name.

The Scent of a Woman

Over the last three days, I have been on a short story that I have already titled, ‘Virginity Deflowered.’ The title may have already perforated your senses, and you will soon get to read it on this blog.
Anyway,  somewhere towards end noon yesterday, I had reached a point in my story where I wanted to make a mention of the perfume that the girl loved to wear on a special occasion and I was at a loss.
I did not feel Google would be the right option as it would not serve the purpose you know :P So I logged into Facebook – my favourite networking tool and found a friend online. In the course of the chat, I asked her, "ggimme a name of ur fav perfume" and added the word typo, realizing that I had just done the same. So much for being an edit guy :) Poison :P came her prompt tongue-in-cheek reply. And the chat  meandered thus:

whoa sounds in lines to the story
well as in axe effect we have chocolate, music star, googly, etc.
like that
so poison ... what, I asked.
hmmm

always liked sporty perfumes, giving it a thought, she responded.

Coming to terms with my state of confusion, she queried ...

Just, I said, words failing me.

yea, I wanted to know. (I had decided to mention an Indian ladies' perfume brand on my story)

ok, I simply said.
poison is jus poison, she explained.

n sporty is sumthin else, I tried to understand.

Not quite understanding her, I put up a Status on FB. Sure, I will get many comments (read as: replies) coming in as it usually is.
ok well, respond to my status

And promptly she puts up a comment, the first. More on that, and the others, a bit later.
Back on the story, I let her know.
sporty is nt a brand baba, she informs.
for some enlightenment I guess :) stories will tutor me further, I reply, as by the passing minute, I get replies on my New Status pouring in.

The Status read thus:

Love ... What art thou?

As a consequence of a far too sensitive, emotional quake
I have been squashed beyond recognition
Under the heap of rubble
Spelt in bold, underlined italics as LOVE

In a yearning effort to brush away the scourging memories
I am in scour of a realistic soulmate
Who has been gifted the knack to pristinely express herself to
my humble being
And thus emboss ourselves in togetherness
as regards the immortal chapter better known as "LOVE"

Love is an eccentric commodity
Dwelling in the posh property of every lovable, fragrant soul
That is bereft of any vendor or purchaser
But lies as all and sundry's earnest desire

It is a wondrous flow genetically felt
That has in it's power an invisible, unique key
Which jimmies the hinges open on every spiritual cabinet
In an effortless desire to blossom the bud
of every enchanting romance

A much sought after phenomenon is what love is
That terminates the traumatic implore for passion
By solidarising an intimate bond
That has a vital component matching the opposite sex

All in all
Love in a nutshell
Is the cohesive exudation of romanticism
Blended with divine grace
And meant to remain embalmed for posterity

Night fall

The setting of the smiling sun
gives dawn to a reverberant
twilight;
When the volatile streets start
to empty
and the quietude of homes,
begin to noisily fill;
Amidst all this uproar and
activity
the twittering of sparrows;
and crowing of ravens
take center stage outdoors
As the once cheerful, blooming
flower
Devalue its exuberance;
Withering away its once
fragrance
Into a dreary, hideous bud
As the enigma of dark
Finally takes charge
When the chaste moon
gradually peeps,
betwixt the graying, celestial
clouds;
As the the weeping dew answers the call for solace
Of the parched earth

Crystal - the epitome of friendship

The sun may have been up today and shining, but the morose, ill me refused to cheer up, still in sync with the contrasting weather of the previous day. And I continued to remain most of the time under self-confinement.

But a pleasant call from one of my better friends with whom I share a unique bonding, truly made my day.
This came to light to her with a FB status of mine that read "My life = a total screw up."

Her name is Crystal, more about our fascinating friendship on another post (Permission Granted right !!). In time, it has been very difficult to be in touch with her, with her work-related commitments seeing her fly out of the country more often than not. So calling her was out of the question too as she never kept a number, until when she is India which I believe is subject to frequent changes.

It was another matter she could initially not call up, as my cell has been switched off most of the time since last afternoon. Reason being, I was/still am totally disgruntled with an inconsiderate response to my plight by a senior at my workplace. Call, she did, when she spilled the beans to me on that particular wall status and I kept my cell on for a while. It was really thoughtful and sweet of her, to cheer up my mood with the lovely call.

Crystal, I know how time is money for you (pardon me, if I have worded it wrongly), but how you managed that half an hour for me is very appreciable (trust your important conference that followed went well). This justifies your presence in my FB Album - 'Friends Forever' despite the fact our meetings and spending quality time together have been few, To a certain mutual pal, the previous line may be uncalled for, but I felt it was necessiated under the unique circumstances our friendship took root, branched out and continues to grow.

I have this tendency to cringe and get cranky whenever I fall ill and make this public on FB too - which is an extension of my life as Twitter is tending to be nowadays. And she, with her lovely, cheerful comments when am down and with such depressing statuses up on FB, puts in her extra bit to lighten up my mood, to a fair measure of success, as today :)

Crystal, I could not thank you enough with your call for making me feel 'so special' and 'part of your life' but in my own special way, I am doing my bit. You truly are an epitome of friendship to me, and many others, for sure !! Keep up the good vibes !!

A Hope of Love Stays Afloat

He may not be the archetypal guy that every girl dreams of in their lives, but he had a uniqueness about him that made him endearing.

She was the girl, on first sight anyone would fall for. She had that glint in her eye, the beguiling charm that would get any guy curious to know her.

Emilio was a regular commuter on the 9.15 am Volvo from the bus terminus at Margao to Panjim. A wiry, bespectacled lad, more often than not he took to his favourite window seat. The hour long journey usually would elapse with him lost in his thoughts staring outside the window or plugged into music.

But the other week, with the weather outside dreary and pouring its torrents, and having left his cell ear-plugs behind, he felt bored stiff and quite restless looking around him until he saw her.

She boarded the packed bus at the Pirni bus-stop, Nagoa and tried to make her way forward as urged by the conductor ‘mache fuddem voch bai’. Somehow she managed to hold on to a few heavy tomes in one hand, with her umbrella tucked under the arm and with the free hand holding on to a seat handle-bar.

That was when he saw her. She stood facing him. Her cute and innocent face looked noticeably troubled. Quickly realizing her predicament of spiteful men standing either side of her, the gentlemanly guy offered his seat to her.

“Young lady, you may have my seat,” he said
“No it is okay,” she manages a sweet smile and replies.
But I insist!! And he gets up and with a wave of his left hand motions her to take his seat.
Gracious at his thoughtful gesture and giving him a broadened smile, she brushes past him as they swap places.

He feels a sensation run through him – the touch, and the scent of a woman. Wow, he thought and sheepishly grinned.

The elderly lady, who was seated beside him until then, was observing minutely the chain of events, and catching his reaction, winked at him.

“O my, he thought. Not a granny for heaven sakes.” He did not know she had seen his reaction and thought she was flirting with him.

He overhears the grey-haired, wizened lady whisper into the girl’s ear. “Isn’t he such a sweetheart?”

“I guess,” she mumbles back and coyly smiles to herself and then looks up at him and they exchange awkward glances.

The bus finally reaches Panjim and the passengers begin to alight from the bus, but his gaze stays transfixed on hers. Was that mutual love on first sight?

In minutes, the bus is empty but for them, and the conductor checking into the accounts of his ticket collection. A few moments’ passes by and the petite lass lowers her pretty eyelashes, a tad embarrassed, with her cheeks flushing a pinkish hue, as she quietly makes a move out from the bus.

Emilio follows her out and blurts, “May I know your name? “ Brushing aside her curls, and turning her head over her shoulder momentarily, she replies shyly, “may be another time.”

He stood rooted to the spot watching her vanish into the morning bustle of students and professionals, scuttling to their destination in the receded rains which still held the premonition of more showers with overcast skies.

He still could not let the thought of her escape his mind while he took the City bus to work. Through the day in office, try as he could, he was unable to let the distraction of day-dreaming about her go. And this had a negative impact on his creative thought process at work. Citing a sudden stomach upset as an excuse, he decided to leave for home at noon.

The weekend went by, and the Monday morning blues greeted him. As usual, he boarded his regular bus and took his customary seat leaning against the window, wondering if he would ever meet the charming girl again. Tiredness of a late night party the previous night and a mild hangover took its toll and his drooping eyes closed. From seeing her in his reveries, he now found her enter his sub consciousness too. He felt her perfume intoxicate his nostrils and loved the feeling. Suddenly he felt a soft tap on his shoulder. Was he actually dreaming? He pinched himself, opening his bleary eyes to an unexpected shock and a pleasant surprise. Emilio could not believe what or rather, who he was seeing. It was her. The same girl he offered his seat to in the bus the other day. She sat down on the empty seat beside him and flashed him her most glistening smile.

Emilio was now fully-awake and sat up nodding at her presence next to him and uttered, “Hello” with a knowing look.

She extended her right hand in greeting and replied, “Hi, I am Amanda, it was really nice of you the other
day ….”

Feeling the delicate, warm handshake gave Emilio a strange, tingling sensation. He simply said, “Pleasure to have met you ….” Erm, he quickly realized his mistake and felt like a geek. Correcting his reply, he said, “It was what was expected from a man.” “By the way, I am Emilio, he added as an afterthought.”

Taking no notice what he may have earlier said or how he may have felt, but visibly impressed to what he had just said, Amanda went further.  “The other day when we met, I was in a tearing hurry to attend to my class, besides, the impending rains ….”

This got the rather tongue-heavy Emilio talking. “Yes, I felt awkward when you made an abrupt dash out of the bus without saying a bye.”

Now, she felt apologetic. “I really did not mean to …. I am very sorry but ….”

Quickly he replied, “It is okay, I understand”. “By the way, I work as a journalist with a leading daily in Panjim, Emilio said, and took out his wallet from his back-pocket and fed out a visiting card from it and gave it to her.

“Well, that is awesome. I am always in awe in what you guys do. Your curiosity, nose for news always has me in admiration. It must be quite the challenging profession, ain’t it not?” she raises an eyebrow and asks.

Pleased by the respect she had to his ilk, Emilio replied, “Certainly is.” “What about you? What do you profess as?”

“Oh yes, I am a lecturer in the Arts Faculty at Dhempes, Miramar.”

“Right, that was what you had earlier said. You teach.” He now took notice of the few volumes peeping out of her shoulder bag which were of English Literature.

“You teach English at the college level isn’t it?”

A surprised Amanda asks, “How did you guess?”

“Well, I just happened to notice Shakespeare, Milton ….looking out from your bag,” he stated.

“Ahh, right, the Smart Alec that you are,”  she gives him a smile.

Emilio now was really talking. “Well, you know, I had taken English at the graduation level in my time from Chowgules.”

“Really?? It is good to know,” she replied.

Clearly, the literary-inclined minds were now getting into an engaging conversation.

But just then, the bus reached Panjim. And a loud female voice that said, Pavle ami Ponje,” made them realize it was time to part ways once again.

“Nice knowing you,” Amanda said giving him a winning smile and made her move out of the bus and into the teeming crowd outside.

“Right, do keep in touch, he called out after her.”

She simply waved a hand and disappeared from view.

Days passed into weeks and weeks into a month. He now grew restless; he was just missing her so much. Should he visit her college …where she taught and meet her? But would that not be lame? What would be his excuse for going there? He did not know anyone else, studying there or otherwise, apart from her.

His heart was so lost in hers that he went to the extent of trying to locate  her on facebook, orkut, google … No results …His only leads were her first name, where she taught, and possibly where she lived, Nagoa. All of which were of no help on the search engines.

On a Friday, Six months later … He gets a call. It is from an unknown cell number.  It is her voice.
She: Hi, is it Emilio? It is Amanda here.
He: Yes, Amanda. How are you? Been a while, you know, since we last met
She: Yes, I do not live any longer in Nagoa. Regular long distance traveling was getting to be difficult and tiring. I have put up along with a couple of my friends at a rental flat in Miramar since the last many months. It is now very convenient for me. I only travel home for the weekend. And how have you been?
He: All is well my end, the usual.
She: Good to know. Sorry, had been busy re-locating and in all that hurry, misplaced your visiting card. It is unlike me to …She stops short, then adds, I did not even bother to visit your office.
He: Hey, that is okay. No need to feel bad. To tell you frankly, I was thinking of visiting your college too, but then thought otherwise. It may have been lame.
She: No, not at all. In fact, I would have been glad to have met you again, much sooner. I even told my staff friends about you. How chivalry still exists in this world. How about we meet at seven this evening at a nice place somewhere?
He: Well, that would be wonderful. How does CCD, Miramar sound to you?
She: That’s an idea!! May be, we could head out to the beach later.
He: (taking a flirtatious tone) I can already imagine the waves lapping at our feet as we walk by the shore-line with the gentle breeze wafting your long curls against mine.
She: (on cue) I am game for the teaser (and bursts out laughing)
He: That is a date then, at seven, this evening.
She: Done. Seeya soon.
He: Ciao.

More than just a Trek/ Nature Trip at Bondla

As I had mentioned in an earlier post, the Bondla outing was more than just a trek/ nature trip. It mainly was a get-together for the participants who attended the National Himalayan Trekking Expedition with GHA last month. Hence, Bondla was the ideal place to have such a wonderful re-union.

It was around, 1.30 am, I moved out of the zoo to a  vehicle that brought us our lunch and helped in carrying several plates and a large spoon towards the garden expanse where we lunched. The lunch was sumptuous and the servings would be more than one would expect, especially with the numbers, twice as less than expected. It was nice to see the GHA President, Pramod Kamat (with two of his friends), GHA Member, Mangirish Pai and his wife Sheela joining in by lunch time.

It seemed like the Gods were with us all through the outing, as when we trekked, it rained heavily thus making for a wonderful monsoonal trekking experience. As we reached the zoo, the rains receded, and by lunch, it stopped.

After lunch, it was time for fun and games, with the lively GHA Vice President, Vishwas Kadam (Apa) taking centre-stage. We began with Passing the Parcel in the light rains, which I eventually won beating Deepika at the end. Moments later, I was chaired by the celebrating guys for whom it was matter of 'The Male Ego.' The promised prize for the winner of the game was not to be, and I got the empty bottle. Duhhhhh !! Apa you betcha give my prize on the next trek.

Next, we played 'Dog & The Bone' which was hilarious as with the rains  pounding upon us and  the lush lawns we were all quavery with the chill and the ground rendered very slippery. Either side had 14 players, with some deciding not to play (such suckers) and taking refuge under their umbrellas or making a hasty retreat to our bus. Anyway, the fun we had slipping and sliding as our numbers were called out by the Ref (Apa) made for great entertainment. I especially could not hold back my laughter, when my good trekker buddy, Devang from our team, made a dash towards the bone (was a bottle) with an umbrella in hand. Reaching there, he flung aside his umbrella. I just could not control my laughter that I went on all fours and smacked the ground. Dunno, if anyone noticed me doing that :D Ohhh, I did contribute my bit to the team's cause. At the first opportunity of my number being called, I got a point. It was against my pal, Chandresh Revankar (with whom I trekked earlier in the day under my umbrella). I held my head-to-head record against him, as our next two duels ended in ties. He later on went to tell me, that of all people I had to get him. As according to him, I did not present him point-scoring opportunities. Well, he did scamper off with the bone in the first of our three face-offs, but I tackled him to the ground as he slipped only a few metres from home. Seeing the pattern, I decided to be extra cautious when my number would be subsequently called as running was next to impossible, and only more than a jog would do.  So my number, 13, indeed was to prove lucky. By the way, the result, went our way 10-6. It was on even keel until the half-way mark when our dogs (and bitches :P) cut loose.

Stand-up kho-kho in a circular formation was the next game played. I joined only at the very end, but thoroughly enjoyed nonetheless. There was another game also played, something like a tag team game which was interesting. I did not participate in this game.

It was disappointing that wonderful game ideas mooted by Devang, as Dumb Sharads did not enthuse any interest as such and a lot of quality time was wasted. Soaked to the bone and chilled to the spine, we clattered our teeth and trembled as we headed to our bus at around 4 pm. Sadly, there were no clicks taken as the rains did not present an opportunity with the well-being of ruining our cameras at stake.

On our way back home, we stopped for tea at Ponda and continued our 'full on' fun in the bus with loony acts and wild singing.

As under our some pics taken by me (excepting that of my own pic) on our return trip home:
